ASPIC, the Portuguese Association for Cancer Research, is a forum for promoting multidisciplinary research on cancer, welcoming investigators independently from their academic background and professional activity.
The recognition of the scientific nature of the activities carried out by ASPIC (Government Order Nº 12119/2025) allows the Association to benefit from the Scientific Patronage scheme. This means that donations made or to be made between October 1, 2024, and December 31, 2027, may qualify for tax benefits.
| Launched in October 2012 under the auspices of the EACR during the first cancer research symposium of the Portuguese community, and formally established in 2013, ASPIC’s mission is to promote cancer research in all its dimensions, in the service of the public interest. The Association promotes scientific excellence and the dissemination of knowledge by analyzing challenges relevant to research and researchers and by proposing solutions that contribute to scientific progress in Portugal, Europe, and internationally. It also assumes a strategic role in fostering links with Portuguese-speaking countries. Within the framework of the European integration of cancer research carried out in Portugal, ASPIC’s fundamental instrument is its affiliation with its European counterpart, the EACR.
