Potencial do perfil volátil urinário no diagnóstico não invasivo do carcinoma de células renais

O carcinoma de células renais do subtipo células claras (ccCCR) é o tipo mais comum (~70%) de cancro renal, tendo um desenvolvimento geralmente assintomático e risco de progressão sistémica. Deste modo, torna-se premente a descoberta de novos biomarcadores mais sensíveis e específicos para a deteção precoce e tratamento mais eficaz deste tipo de cancro.

Natural killer cells put breast cancer to sleep

Even after apparently successful treatment of primary tumor, some undetectable tumor cells can persist and cause cancer to eventually come back. These cells spread beyond the primary tumor to other organs of the body, where they lay dormant until awakening into deadly metastases.

Após a remoção de um cancro existe sempre o risco da persistência de células tumorais que não é possível detectar e que, mais tarde ou mais cedo, se transformam num problema difícil de resolver. Estas células do tumor primario viajam pelo organismo e acabam por se instalar noutros órgãos, onde permanecem “adormecidas” até eventualmente despertarem como metástases.

Paper from a research group in i3S wins the first edition of Prémio Cancro Gástrico IPO do Porto

The paper entitled "A panel of intestinal differentiation markers (CDX2, GPA33, and LI‑cadherin) identifies gastric cancer patients with favourable prognosis" from the Differentiation & Cancer group at i3S has won the first edition of "Prémio Cancro Gástrico IPO do Porto", an award for the best article in gastric cancer research published in the past 2 years assigned by IPO Porto. The award ceremony will take place at IPO Porto on May 31st, 2021.
